HTC Wildfire: Fire up your “Desire”
HTC Wildfire is an attempt of HTC mobile phones to provide its customers with a lower-priced version of their legacy phone HTC Desire. It’s been observed that manufacturer’s these days release a toned down version of their premium phones to cater to the segment of market which can’t spend as much but would like to lay their hands of stylish and feature rich latest mobile phones. Wildfire is one such mobile phone, from HTC, that has bundles of features, boasts the premium finish, a stylish name and a price that won’t make a hole in your pocket.
Looking at all the good things that come with HTC wildfire, it certainly feels a handful. The Wildfire is for those who like to stay in touch and carry their world with them as the phone has all sorts of high-end connectivity for browsing the internet. Along with that the social networking features let you keep in constant contact with your friends and family using Facebook, Twitter and Flickr through Friend Stream. The handset from HTC mobile phones is 3G enabled with 7.2 Mbps HSDPA supporting high speed data access and trouble free browsing on its flash-enabled html browser. Apart from 3G, you can also access internet through its Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g where ever you find a hot spot or wi-fi access, giving you good speed to do more things than just normal browsing; other options like GPRS, edge come in as a standard like other phones in the market.
HTC Wildfire works on Android OS v2.1 (Eclair) with Sense UI that runs on a Qualcomm MSM 7225 528 MHz CPU with 384 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM. This cpu is a downgrade from the original 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 Processor which surely feels short on power but somehow manages to do its job. What’s more disappointing is the multi-touch support 3.2″ capacitive touchscreen of QVGA resolution which does not justify the Android OS’s graphics and we feel that anything short of AMOLED is just not perfect for Android mobile phones. HTC Wildfire has a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with LED flash and touch focus which seems decent considering the price and the market competition, however the CIF@15fps video recording (352 x 288 pixels) is definitely below expectations.
HTC mobile phones have done a decent job in repackaging a flagship product to cater to a wider customer base. They have managed to include most of the desirable features and still managed to keep the cost under control. This phone should appeal to all those who like to carry a feature rich latest mobile phone and don’t mind compromising a little here and there. This phone is available with plenty of deals on contract mobile phones to choose from and everyone will find the attached gifts with the deals an add on to make a purchase decision.
